List Shopify products on eBay, with stock in sync

Crossmart imports your Shopify catalog, lists the products you choose on eBay, and keeps stock, prices and orders in step between the two. A sale on either side lowers the count on both. Here is how it works, step by step.

How Crossmart connects Shopify and eBay

Crossmart keeps one master catalog with one stock count per variant. Your Shopify store and your eBay account are both stores of that catalog. You decide which products each store sells, and Crossmart sends every change to every store that lists the product, so you never edit the same listing twice.

Shopify can also be where your catalog comes from. When you connect it, Crossmart can import every product with its variants, images, cost and stock. From then on you edit products in Crossmart, and both Shopify and eBay follow.

Step by step

1. Connect your Shopify store

Create a Crossmart account, open Channels and click Connect on Shopify. Enter the your-store part of your-store.myshopify.com and approve the Crossmart app in Shopify. Crossmart asks for products, inventory and, optionally, orders, so that a Shopify order can hold its stock across your other stores (Shopify guide).

2. Import your Shopify products

On the connected store, click Import products from Shopify. Products that already match your catalog by handle or SKU are linked, and new ones are created with their stock at the primary location. Running the import again is safe, and an import that stops picks up where it left off.

3. Connect your eBay account

Click Connect on eBay, choose the marketplace you sell on (eBay US, UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, France, Italy or Spain), and sign in on eBay to approve Crossmart. Each marketplace becomes its own store, priced in its own currency. Crossmart never sees your eBay password (connect a store).

4. Set your eBay listing defaults

eBay lists items only under business policies for shipping, payment and returns. Choose one of each, the item condition, and where items ship from. If you have no policies yet, Create default policies sets up free standard shipping, immediate payment and 30-day returns on eBay US, UK, Germany and Australia, and you can edit them on eBay later (eBay guide).

5. Decide your eBay prices and titles

Give the eBay store a pricing rule, such as 10% above your catalog price, rounded to .99, never below cost plus a margin. Prices are converted when eBay sells in another currency. For one product, set a fixed eBay price or its own eBay title in the listing editor. The docs explain pricing rules in full.

6. Add products to eBay

Add one product from its page, select many in the products table, or turn on an automatic rule that adds every product, or those matching tags, vendor or status. Adding a product publishes it straight away. A product with variants becomes one multi-variation listing (publish products).

7. Fill in what eBay asks for

Crossmart picks eBay's suggested category from the title, and the listing editor shows that category's item specifics, required ones first, with eBay's allowed values. When a required one such as Department is missing, the listing waits in Needs details with the names eBay wants. The channel map shows each product's status in every store, so failed listings are easy to find. AI can suggest categories and eBay-ready titles and descriptions, and they wait for your approval.

How inventory stays in sync between Shopify and eBay

Crossmart holds one available count per variant: units on hand minus units held by open orders. When an order arrives from either store, its units are held at once and the other store gets the lower quantity. Shipping removes the units from stock, and a cancelled order makes them available again.

Shopify tells Crossmart about new orders as they happen, and Crossmart also checks both stores every 2 minutes in case a notification is missed. Every 15 minutes it compares what Shopify and eBay show with its own count and corrects any listing that drifted, for example after someone edited stock on the channel directly.

If two stores sell the last unit at the same moment, Crossmart records the order as oversold so you can follow up. To lower that risk, hold back a few units from eBay, or cap how many eBay shows, per product (stock sync).

What Crossmart sends to eBay

  • Title (cut to eBay's 80 characters), description, condition, item specifics and up to 24 images.
  • A barcode as UPC or EAN, and each variant option, such as Size, as its own item specific.
  • The price after the eBay store's pricing rule or your fixed price. Compare-at prices are not sent to eBay.
  • The available quantity after every change. A variant that does not track stock lists one unit.

A few things are not supported on eBay yet: images per variant, item specifics per variant beyond the options, pushing tracking numbers back to eBay, and returns. eBay also allows 250 revisions of a listing a day, so a variant whose stock changes more often than that is refused until the next day. The eBay guide lists every limit.

Let an AI agent do the busywork

Once Shopify and eBay are connected, Claude, ChatGPT or another agent can do the same work over MCP. Ask it which eBay listings failed and what they need, or to add every active product with a certain tag to eBay. AI-written titles still arrive as suggestions for you to approve. What it costs

Crossmart Cloud is priced by active listings, and a product live in Shopify and eBay counts as two. Starter is $29 a month for 1,000 active listings and 3 stores, after a 7-day trial, and there is no fee on your sales. Self-hosting is free. Frequently asked questions

Can I list Shopify products on eBay automatically?

Yes. In Crossmart, an automatic rule on the eBay store adds every product, or the products matching your tags, vendor or status, and publishes them as they match. Products still need eBay's required item specifics before eBay accepts them.

Does inventory sync both ways between Shopify and eBay?

Yes. Crossmart keeps one stock count for both stores. An order on Shopify or eBay holds its units at once and lowers the quantity on the other store, and Crossmart checks both every 15 minutes to correct any drift.

Can I charge a different price on eBay than on Shopify?

Yes. Set a pricing rule for the eBay store, such as a percentage markup with .99 rounding and a floor above cost, or a fixed eBay price for a single product.

Which eBay marketplaces are supported?

eBay US, UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, France, Italy and Spain. Each marketplace you connect is its own store in Crossmart, priced in its own currency.

Do I need eBay business policies?

Yes, eBay requires shipping, payment and return policies for every listing. Crossmart can create a default set for you on eBay US, UK, Germany and Australia, or use the policies you already have.

Does Crossmart see my customers’ details?

No. Crossmart reads what was sold, the quantities and the totals, never who bought it. Your marketplace sign-ins are stored encrypted and never written to logs.
