AI agents for multichannel selling
Crossmart has an MCP server, so the AI assistant you already use can look up stock, create products, publish them to Shopify and eBay, and fix failed listings. It signs in with OAuth, gets only the access you approve, and its AI content waits for a person to approve it.
What MCP is
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to outside tools and data. A service publishes an MCP server that describes its tools, such as "list products" or "publish to a store", and any assistant that speaks MCP can call them on your behalf. You add the server once, and the assistant can use it in any conversation.
Crossmart's server runs at https://mcp.crossmart.io/mcp. It never touches the database directly: every tool calls the Crossmart REST API with the agent's credentials, so an agent goes through the same validation, permissions and activity log as a person in the dashboard (MCP reference).
What an agent can do with Crossmart
- Look up products, variants and stock across every connected store.
- Create and edit products, prices and stock in your master catalog.
- Add products to Shopify or eBay, or take them off.
- Find listings that failed or need details, and fill in what the marketplace asks for, such as eBay item specifics.
- Read orders and sales and stock reports.
- Ask Crossmart AI for channel-ready titles, descriptions and categories, which arrive as suggestions to approve.
- Ask Crossmart, the docs-grounded assistant, how a feature works, with links to the docs.
Agents cannot connect stores: Shopify and eBay ask you to approve access yourself, in the dashboard. They also cannot manage members, API keys, settings or billing.
Example prompts
Once your agent is connected, try asking it:
- "Which products are out of stock, and on which stores are they listed?"
- "Create a draft product for a blue ceramic mug at $18 with 25 in stock."
- "Add every active mug to my Shopify store."
- "Which of my eBay listings failed, and what do they need?"
- "How did sales in the last 7 days compare with the week before?"
- "Write better titles for my 10 best sellers on eBay." (They arrive as suggestions to approve.)

How to connect your agent
- Connect your Shopify and eBay stores in the Crossmart dashboard first (connect a store).
- Add
https://mcp.crossmart.io/mcpto your assistant without a key. In Claude Code, runclaude mcp add --transport http crossmart https://mcp.crossmart.io/mcp, then/mcpin a session to sign in. - Sign in to Crossmart in the browser that opens, and choose the workspace the agent works in.
- Review the access the agent asks for, and approve everything it asks for or read-only.
For scripts or agents that can't sign in, create a workspace API key with the smallest role that works, and keep it in the agent's configuration, never in a chat (setup guides).
Safety: OAuth, scopes and approvals
OAuth sign-in, no copied keys
Each person signs in with their own Crossmart account, so there is no shared secret to paste into a chat. The agent works in one workspace only, never with more than your own role allows, and you can disconnect it at any time under Settings, Connected agents. Disconnecting signs it out at once.
Scopes you approve
The agent gets only the scopes you approve, and the server offers only the tools those scopes cover (MCP reference):
catalog:readandcatalog:write: see, create and change products, prices and stock.orders:readandreports:read: see orders, and sales and stock reports.stores:write: add products to stores and take them off.suggestions:write: ask for AI content and approve suggestions.
Approval of AI suggestions
AI-written titles, descriptions and categories are suggestions with a before and after. With an Editor key, an agent can ask for content but cannot apply it; a person with the Approver, Admin or Owner role approves it in Suggestions. Every change is logged with who made it.
Beyond chat: API, SDKs, webhooks and n8n
The MCP server sits on top of the same versioned REST API the dashboard uses. There are SDKs for TypeScript, Python and PHP, webhooks for events such as new orders, and an n8n node for automations. Every Crossmart Cloud plan includes the API, MCP and the SDKs, from $29 a month (pricing), and the open-source code can be self-hosted for free.

Frequently asked questions
Can Claude manage my Shopify and eBay listings?
Yes. Connect Claude to the Crossmart MCP server and it can look up products and stock, publish products to Shopify and eBay, fix listings that need details and read orders, within the access you approve.
Which AI assistants work with Crossmart?
Any assistant that supports MCP. Setup guides cover Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code), ChatGPT, Gemini CLI, Cursor, OpenClaw, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Codex CLI, Windsurf, Zed, Cline and others.
Can an AI agent change my prices without asking?
Only if you give it write access to the catalog. Read-only access lets it look but not change anything, and AI-written content always arrives as a suggestion for a person to approve.
Can an agent connect my stores or see my billing?
No. Agents cannot connect stores, act outside their workspace, or manage members, API keys, settings or billing.
Is the MCP server included in every plan?
Yes. Every Crossmart Cloud plan includes the MCP server, the REST API and the SDKs, starting at $29 a month, and self-hosting is free.
